GOOOOAAAAL!

Brayden had a soccer game last night to make up for the game they missed due to rain 1 1/2 weeks ago. It was a beautiful evening. The kids did pictures- Am I a bad mom if I don't order a picture? I mean really, I could have stood behind the guy and gotten a picture that was just as good, but I ended up ordering them anyway. They all looked so cute in their big t-shirts- Go BLUE STRIKE! Then, we headed over to the field for the game.
Now, last spring, he was the youngest on his team (they were about a year older), and mostly ran behind the other kids. He was the only one that hadn't made a goal, so by the last game, the coach was telling the kids to pass it to Brayden whenever they were near the goal. He never did get a goal. He didn't seem to mind too much, as he was just happy running around on the field with his team. This fall, he is on a really big team (9 kids) with kids his own age, and it seems like it is really starting to "click." He is getting in there, blocking goals, stealing the ball (sometimes), and getting the ball down the field. Last night, his aunts TerriAnne and Tess and Uncle Ryan came to watch. Boy, he was excited when they got there and was acting like a maniac. They must be good luck, because he made his first GOAL!!! We were so excited, but not nearly as much as Brayden. I wish I would have gotten a picture of the look on his face as he high-fived his buddies. His friend Austin did a great job passing the ball to him and kick, kick, kick he scored! Great Job Brayden!!!!

Way 2 go Brayden!! It's amazing what just one little goal can do for their confidence. Chase did the same thing last week. Usually he just messes around, but when he "accidently" made a goal, his intensity changed for the rest of the game - way fun!!

Mini-Marathon

Brayden's school does a "mini-marathon" each year.  During recess, some of the kids choose to run.  For each lap they do, they earn a punch on their cards.  Brayden ran 27.2 miles!!!!  He earned a cool medal and certificate. We were so proud of him. I forgot how long his hair was!  He decided last spring that he wanted to grow it out until school let out.

 ....you can't take the country out of the girl. My parents' have pretty much the coolest place to visit...well, besides the beach or Disneyland... so we always have fun going back home to the farm.  Grandma Marie Bramwell- 89 years old!  Double Rainbow! Sunset over the Snake River  The only reason he is wearing a helmet is because he had to for his scouting belt loop.  We had to fudge a little bit- it's his bike helmet.  Billy has learned a thing or two from me :)

Eight is Great

Brayden got to celebrate his birthday at the happiest place on earth...Chuck E. Cheese.  Yes, he really wanted a Chuck E. Cheese birthday party.  Not the kind where you show up and mom orders pizza and brings your presents in, but an actual Chuck E. Cheese Birthday Party.  You know, the one where they set the table for you and you get an awesome blow up crown and Chuck E. comes out an entertains you.  I blame all the children that previously have had birthday parties there when we've shown up. Brayden did design his birthday cake.  Apparently he wasn't impressed with the giant cupcake one I made last time that tipped over.  I like doing it this way much better- so much easier.   He got to invite a few friends.  We missed a few that were sick or out of town.  Bummer.  I guess that's what happens when you have a December birthday.  The boys that did come were so much fun and full of all that boy humor- loud and silly.   We opene...
